Himalaya, home of the Indian Gods
No wonder the Gods choose to live here.

Of all the places in India, the mountains in the north is what attracts me most.
Just to walk around here fills my heart with joy. I have never been a serious trekker but I am becoming one automatically, just because
I wanna walk and see more more...
Eagles in the sky, animals running around, beatiful nature, people living in harmony with the surroundings, clean air, unspoiled food, clean water.
Sounds like something out of a fairytail doesn't it.
Mayby you're an adventure romantic like me. Mayby you have found that all your expensive stuff doesn't really mean much. Welcome to
Himalaya were everyone can feel rich with little money.

Hop on a transport from Delhi to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Get yourself on a bus to Parvati valley and disembark in Kasol. Now you
are in the middle of a forest that looks like something from Lords of the ring. From here you start exploring a serious piece of nature.

Bus and walk up yo Pulga and get you bearings from there. World class trekking to Spiti valley starts here. Spiti valley could easily be
called one of the most breathtaking places in the world.

Now haul yourself up and over and get to Rohtang pass. Stop and watch massive vultures and eagles hopping and flying around you.
from here you go south in to Kullu valley and stop in Manali for a while. This is easily two three weeks.

Or just go to Manali straight from Kasol with a bus.
From here the popular tour to Leh Ladak starts, but road is only open in summer.some parts of that road goes over 5000 meters !!!!

The other less popular but never the less super duper fantastic route starts in Rishikesh Uttarakhand. It used to be called Uttar Ranchal
but they changed it for the old name wich means land to the north. North of Delhi that is.

Anyway, after you've spent time in Rishikesh ( Lakshman Jhula or Ram Jhula ) taking Yoga classes and charging yourself with the athmosphere it's time to head up the mountains.

The mouth of holy Ganga ( forget Ganges ) is called Gamuk. Take a jeep or bus up to 4000 meters and spend time walking around here.
Get your coordinates from the guides that work up there. Don't just stop at the mouth, walk further.

Valley of flowers. The valley floor is 4000 meters with high mountains around. These sites are open in summer only.

Almora is to the east of Uttarakhand near Nepal. From here you can explore glaciers near Munsyari and have a close look at Nanda Devi
a beauty of a mountain 7600 meters high.

Remember, all you really have to do is to go there and you will find guides and plenty info.

The area is crowded with holy sites. Bageshwar, Jageshwar and on and on. Some people like to stay in Kasar Devi.

It gets cold up here so come in summer or bring warm gear. Many tourist stay wintertime anyway. Cosy nights with the open fire. The days are warm and sunny and quality of life is very high indeed.
